A virus-hit Bayern Münich team takes on Dortmund in this match between the leagues no. 2 Bayern and no. 5 Dortmund. With an important match coming up this mid-week agains Fiorentina in the Champions League, Bayern are facing a tough decision on who to start in this match.

Bayern Münich:

Bayern has been hit by a stomach virus and coach Luis van Gaal decided to split his squad in two groups for Fridays training to limit the risk of spreading the virus further. As I’m making this analysis the following players are doubtful: Ivica Olic, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Daniel van Buyten, Danijel Pranjic, Hans-Jorg Butt and Miroslav Klose with more possibly to come. This is a disaster as Bayern finally has found their form and playing some excellent football. They won 6-2, midweek in the German DFB-cup against Greuther Fürth and have won the last 8 games in the German Bundesliga which has taken them to joint no.1 in the league behind Bayern Leverkusen on goal difference only. Their overall home record is 7-4-0

Borrusia Dortmund:

Its pretty much the other situation for Dortmund where coach Jürgen Klopp has 3 players back for this game; Sven Bender, Jakub Blaszczykowski,  and Roman Weidenfeller. This leaves Dortmund with a full squad at his disposal. The return of these players could prove to be the boost Dortmund needs to take them out of their current down-slip that has seen them loose the last 2 games. Before that they won six in a row so it’s a team that has the quality and can beat Münich on the right day. Their overall away record this season is 4-4-2.

Conclusion:

Much depends on the start-11 that Bayern will have available. A hungry Dortmund team is smelling blood and will be ready to snatch the game if they get the possibility. I do not think that Bayern will neglect their game against Fiorentina on Wednesday so any doubt full players for this game will most likely not start in order for them to fully recover for the Champions League Game. It is a difficult game to predict - I suggest keeping an eye out for any team news before the game. If Bayern really is as affected as the reports say, my money will be on Dortmund not to lose the game.
