With 4 games left in the regular season both Esbjerg and Rungsted have secured their playoff births. However both teams can theorethically still reach the important 4th position in the regular season which will secure home advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Esbjerg:

After 2 difficult away games in Frederikshavn (loss) and Odense (draw - loss in OT) Esbjerg returns home to Granly Hockey Arena for this their final home game in the regular season. With the last 3 games of the season being away games against difficult opponents this is Esbjerg's best chance of getting a win in the regular season and therefore I expect to see a highly motivated Esbjerg team skating onto the ice. Head coach Peter Gommesen explains "This is a MUST win game for us. We owe to our fans to finish off good and bring some momentum into the playoffs. We need to play hard in all 3 periods and finsih off with a convincing performance. Esbjergs has won their last three home games and their overall home game record is 10-0-7.

Rungsted:

Coming off loss at the league's no. 1 team SønderjyskE, Rungsted is looking to steal 3 points at Esbjerg, as they did earlier this season. However this was back in November and much has happened since then. Rungsted actually lead the last game against SønderjyskE but at the end came up short. Their overall away record is 4-0-12 with their last away win dating back to 8th of December 2009. This means that they are heading into this match on a 7 away game loosing streak. Like Esbjerg they also face a tough last 4 games, 2 of wich are homegames.

Conclusion:

The so-called icehockey experts in the Danish League expects Esbjerg to be the only team that can threaten the top two teams SønderjyskE and Aab Icehockey in the race to become Danish Champion. Player for player I believe Esbjerg is the better team and they can not afford to loose this game. With that in mind and the information above I expect Esbjerg to show their true colours and make the most of their last home game and hence recommend a Esbjerg win.
